One of the most common questions Spanish learners ask is: What level of Spanish is considered fluent?
It’s a great question, and today I’m here to give you a clear and honest answer.
Many schools and teachers might say that to be “fluent,” you need to reach C1 or C2 levels. While this is one perspective, I believe it’s a bit rigid.
But don’t worry—I’m not saying that an A2 level student is fluent either! If you’re unfamiliar with these terms, I recommend checking out my post on the different levels of Spanish, so you can better understand what I’m talking about.
As an experienced online Spanish tutor and teacher, I personally believe that B2 is the sweet spot where students can confidently be considered fluent. At this level, you’re able to hold conversations, understand complex topics, and express yourself clearly—skills that truly reflect fluency in a language.
So, whether you’re just starting out or already working your way towards fluency, remember that it’s about progress, not perfection. Keep going!
